Theatre tickets can sometimes be more popular then even the best concerts, for instance a few years ago Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane led a star studded cast in the musical, The Producers which eventually became so popular on Broadway in New York City that people were paying upwards of $500-$1000 to see the play. The popularity of the Producers original Broadway stint spawned a small set of new performances last year. One of the most popular plays right now is Wicked, a new musical based on the witches from The Wizard of Oz, which has grown in theatre popularity just in this past year. This performance has led to even ticketmaster and box offices getting in on the demand and charging upwards of $300 for premium orchestra seating, a ticket for other Broadway shows that only has a face value of $100, a 300% increase! So what do you do when your favorite theatre event is sold out in November or December, well the online Broadway or theatre ticket agency will have them for even the best Saturday Evening or Sunday Matinee performances. For an extra service charge, for some plays as little as $25-$50 over face value you can obtain great theatre tickets for that NYC Broadway show or your favorite touring company you can get good orchestra or mezzanine seats and see plays such as Phantom of the Opera or The Producers. Some theatres may also offer group sales discounts, but then you may have to purchase up to 20 tickets for that particular performance, which is tough to get together. If you need to find even more reasonable tickets sometimes you can find an offer code or rebate for your favorite play at www.broadwaybox.com. But even then you will only get the discount for the weekday performances or for a less popular play. Other options include www.telecharge.com or the box office themselves, 2 options that are often sold out for the most popular theatre performances. Another widely known option exclusively for NY Broadway shows on off days is the TKTKS window in Times Square which offers half priced tickets day of the show. The only problem with this option is you have to wait until the day of the show to do it and you aren't guaranteed good seats, they may even be limited view tickets or in the last row of the theater. In conclusion, your best option for premium theatre tickets is the online ticket agency where you will pay service charges but get great seats to the most convenient or popular days you want to see your play.
