Nine Inch Nails band history
Trent Reznor is the lead singer and founder of Nine Inch Nails as the
band has changed a lot since he founded it.
Their first album titled Pretty Hate Machine was released in 1989 and with
it's driving beats and wild lyrics rose went triple
platinum in the United States. Three of the most popular singles on the
album "Head Like A Hole," "Down In It" and "Sin."
Their second album was Broken which was released in 1992. The track, "Wish"
won a Grammy for best song in the metal category, but wasn't a huge success.
Their second album however called, "The Downward Spiral" in 1994 launched
the band's success, jumping all the way to quadruple platinum and included
one of NIN's most popular songs called, "Closer.", also one of the
best
videos on MTV, and still shown
with some regularity today. After the release of Downward Spiral Nine Inch
Nails didn't release a new album until 1999's Fragile which also produced
many hit singles in the U.S. including "The Day the World Went Away".
Other Nine Inch Nails tidbits
- in Woodstock 99' they performed a mudsoaked jam session alarming and
sometimes electrifying their fans.
- Trent
Reznor performed some backup and lead vocals with David Bowie on the hit
Bowie song called, "I'm Afraid of Americans"
- Nine Inch Nails songs have made it to many major motion pictures
including David Lynch's Lost Highway and Oliver Stone's Natural Born
Killers
Nine Inch Nails have influenced many emerging techno and rock bands
throughout their 15 year run as one of the more innovative rock/metal/techno
bands out there. |
